Ley Line Of East Grinstead

Why have the prehistoric ley lines attracted so many religions, faiths and belief organisations into the local area?

It is well documented that East Grinstead and Forest Row are located on the crossing of multiple ley lines, which are ancient straight paths or routes in the landscape which are believed to have spiritual significance.  Because of these ley lines the local area has attracted many different religions, faiths and belief organisations into the area.   From our own research, here are the ones we have found that have a significant structure within a five mile radius of East Grinstead and we have given a very small definition to what each is one is about.  Please feel free to add a comment as we are not experts in this field.

Church of latter day saints (Mormonism) is located at Newchapel, Surrey and is 3.8 miles from our office.  Mormonism is a Christianity based religion, who believes in the bible and many other religious scriptures.  They have a unique view of cosmology and believe that all people are spirit-children of God.

Scientology is located at Saint Hill, East Grinstead and is 2.3 miles from our office.  Scientology is otherwise known as Dianetics, and is translated to the ‘knowing of knowing’.  It is a religion that was formed in 1952 by L Ron Hubbard.  It is a religion that works on the mind to relieve the anguish of past traumatic and distressing situation.

Opus Dei, whilst not having a centre within the area does have a retreat at Wickenden Manor, Sharpthorne and is just over the five mile rule at 5.26 miles.  Formally known as the Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei, it is an institution of the Catholic Church which teaches that everyone is called to holiness and that ordinary life is a path to sanctity.  Opus Dei translates from Latin as ‘work of God’.

Anglican, St Margarets Church, West Hoathly again not strictly five miles but close enough at 5.77 miles.  The Anglicans believe the catholic and apostolic faith is revealed in Holy Scripture and the Catholic creeds and interpret these in light of the Christian tradition of the historic church, scholarship, reason, and experience.

Baptist, West Street Baptist Church, East Grinstead is within 0.26 miles.  The Baptists are Christians distinguished by baptising professing believers only, and doing so by complete immersion. Baptist churches also generally subscribe to the doctrines of soul competency, sola fide, sola scriptura and Congregationalist church government.

Congregationalist/independent, Moat United Reformed Church, East Grinstead, United Reformed Church is within 0.2 miles.  Congregational churches are Protestant churches in the Reformed tradition practicing Congregationalist church governance, in which each congregation independently and autonomously runs its own affairs.

Methodist Church of Great Britain, London Road Methodist Church, East Grinstead is within 0.2 miles of our office.  It is a Protestant Christian denomination in Britain and the mother church to Methodists worldwide.  It participates in the World Methodist Council, the World Council of Churches and other ecumenical associations.

Catholic, Our Lady and St Peter’s Catholic Church, East Grinstead is within 0.2 miles , also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the largest Christian church, with approximately 1.3 billion baptised Catholics worldwide as of 2017.   It is the universal community established by Jesus. The word catholic literally means “universal.” Catholic has its origins in Greek from kata meaning “concerning” and holou meaning “whole” thus “concerning the whole” or universal.

Jehovah’s witnesses, Kingdom Hall of Jahovah’s Witnesses, London Road, East Grinstead are within 0.1 mile of our office.   Jehovah’s Witnesses believe god is the Creator and Supreme Being. Witnesses reject the Trinity doctrine, which they consider unscriptural.  They view god as the Father, an invisible spirit “person” separate from the Son, Jesus Christ.

Christian Science, Jubilee community Church, Charlwoods Road is within 0.3 miles of our office.  It is a set of beliefs and practices belonging to the metaphysical family of new religious movements. It was developed in 19th-century New England by Mary Baker Eddy, who argued in her 1875 book Science and Health that sickness is an illusion that can be corrected by prayer alone.

Evangelism, St John the evangelist church, Dormansland is within 4 miles of our office.  In Christianity, evangelism is the commitment to or act of publicly preaching of the Gospel with the intention of spreading the message and teachings of Jesus Christ.
